Treat yourself to a day trip this Labor Day weekend with the 2011 Woodstock-New Paltz Arts & Craft Fair, featuring ’60s psychedelics icon artist Isaac Abrams. Since 1964, Abrams has never taken a vocational break from his greatest passion, painting.

The Woodstock-New Paltz Art & Craft Fairs, presented by Quail Hollow Events, represent an innovative milestone in what has become an institution in art merchandising and presentation, according to a press release. The Fairs are not merely a random group of artists assembled to sell their wares supermarket style. Instead, they have developed a vibrancy centered around the energies and talents of the 300 independently juried artists and craftspeople from all over the U.S. The shows, held over Memorial and Labor Day weekends, have become a national tradition of excellence, one that is burnished by the presence of Abrams this year.

“We couldn’t be more excited to have Isaac exhibit and demonstrate at the Labor Day show. You do not have to be a ’60s boomer to make an instant connection and appreciation of his work.  But it helps!” said Scott Rubinstein, co-director of the fair.

The Fair takes place Saturday, Sept. 3, 10 a.m.–6 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 4, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. and Monday, Sept. 5, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. at the Ulster County Fairground, 249 Libertyville Rd., New Paltz, N.Y. Admission price is Adults, $8, Seniors, $7 and Children 12 & under FREE. For more information, visit www.quailhollow.com.
